It's Sinking in...
Well, it's official, I have a new relationship in my life and like most new relationships go, this one is all consuming. Now, I'm old enough to know that it's not healthy to be completely consumed by a relationship, that's why I'm saying it up front, keeping an eye on it, letting you know I've got it's number.
This new love of mine has been courting me for quite some time, thirty-four years to be exact. Now that's a long time to be batting eyes at one another so you could say that I should be ready.
I said "I do" in December of 2016 but didn't actually get carried over the threshold until April of 2017. And just because we were blowing kisses at each other all these years didn't make me ready for the smelly socks and the dirty underwear. But humans are pretty resilient and one learns to adjust to all kinds of things. I guess that's how love works. When you love something so much, it gives you the strength and endurance to go through just about anything.
But you know the idea of being together sure is different than the reality, when you're sitting there in the stillness staring at each other. What do we do now? I mean everyday, day after day?
Well for me it's all about creating a vision to start with. What can we sculpt out of the raw field of potentiality? And first off, I LOVE History so there is no question that I will do everything I can to restore this amazing property that is a vibrant thread in the tapestry of our heritage. I mean really? Tear something down that has weathered more than 177 years?? A place that is so uniquely it's own that even Lady Gaga would go Gaga.
So here I am, we're coming up on our first anniversary and we're still holding hands. As the poet once said, "Ain't that a kick in the head?" Stay tuned... more to come from this lively couple!
